Mille Lacs is a 132,000 acre lake in central Minnesota. It is a premier lake for Walleye, Muskie, and Smallmouth Bass fishing, as well as Sailing, Wind Surfing, and Kite Surfing. In the winter you will see the 3,000+ Ice Fishing Houses populate the lake accumulating 2 Million+ angling hours in the winter.

Satellite Views
In an attempt to watch the lake freeze over, I'm going to try posting satellite images of the lake each day. The most current satellite images I've found are from two NASA Satellites - Terra/Modis and Aqua/Modis. These satellites provide images of the entire earth every one to two days but cloud cover prevents a view of Mille Lacs from one or both satellites on many days. As new images become available I will capture and show a view of North America on the left; and as cloud cover permits I will show a view of the lake on the right. The date on each image will be the date the image became available so in most cases the image was actually recorded the day before. Current and archived images are here Satellite Views.
